Visitor Fees

Due to the increased number of day visitors to our campgrounds and group sites, RST BC has implemented a $10 Visitor Fee at all of our campgrounds and group sites.

Each year, thousands of people come to our Rec Sites just for the day and not to camp. Some of them are visiting friends or family who are camping, and many of them come to enjoy our beautiful Trails, Lakes or Rivers.

There are additional expenses associated with all these extra people, using the roads to our sites, using the outhouses, leaving garbage behind and not packing it out, plus the extra staff required to manage all the day visitors and limited parking.

RST BC and the West Harrison Reservations Managers had lengthy discussions trying to find a solution to manage the increased cost. Being that these recreation sites are operated as a fee-for-service/nonprofit, and the burden of maintaining these sites have solely been on the camping clients, this was the only option.

A couple years ago, a Visitor Fee was implemented at Weaver Lake campground. With the revenue from these fees, West Harrison Reservations has been able to add several additional docks and swimming platforms, and do extensive work on the road up to the lake. This has allowed more visitors/fishermen the opportunity to enjoy Weaver Lake.

The new visitor fee that is now in effect at all of our campgrounds and groups sites, will be used to help manage the additional expenses and allow us to make more improvements at all our sites for visitors to use.

Thank you for your understanding regarding the new Visitor Fee.
