Campground Closures

No camping

Posted on: April 27, 2026

The team at West Harrison, have just received this notice from Sts’ailes.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

West Harrison Recreation Sites Closure Notice

Sts’ailes regrets to inform the public that five of the Recreation Sites that we manage on West Harrison will be temporarily closed for safety reasons, effective immediately. We have been notified by Recreation Sites & Trails BC (RSTBC) that we are required to keep these campgrounds closed until they arrange to have danger trees felled and removed. We are complying because safety is our priority, but Sts’ailes recognizes the importance of these recreation sites to residents and visitors, particularly at the start of the camping season, and we sincerely regret the inconvenience this may cause.

Affected Campgrounds include:

  • Chehalis River
  • Grace Lake
  • Twenty Mile Bay
  • Weaver Lake
  • Wood Lake

Because these closures were entirely foreseeable and preventable, we encourage campers to write and call Provincial representatives, including RSTBC staff, to address the outstanding safety concerns with some urgency. Please insist on responsible Provincial involvement for safety related matters.

Sts’ailes remains committed to working with the Province of British Columbia to ensure that campgrounds can be reopened as soon as possible.

Further updates will be provided as new information becomes available.

We are truly sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

The West Harrison Reservations Team is deeply sadden by this notice and are work hard to get the campground open again as soon as possible. We will try to get more information over the next 24 to 48 hours.
